Prepare for your visit to the doctor
When a visit to your doctor is necessary, please make the most of the visit by considering
these ideas:
Before your visit:
-
Review the Examples of questions to consider asking your
doctor and write down the questions you want to ask. Pick three that are most
important and take them with you.
-
List all prescriptions, over-the-counter medicines, and herbs or supplements you
are taking. Take this list with you.
-
If you are feeling too sick or nervous, ask a friend or relative to go with you who
can take notes and ask questions for you.
During your visit:
-
Ask how much time you will have for your visit.
-
Discuss your top three questions. Be sure to include your list of medications, herbs
and supplements.
-
Report any illnesses you have had since your last visit.
Before you leave the office:
-
Agree on an action plan with your doctor and write it down.
-
Have your doctor explain anything you are unclear about.
-
Ask who -- and when -- you may call if you have more questions.
If you have any questions, please contact Deseret Mutual.
